CaptiveWorks CW 800S USB PVR Free to Air Receiver Review

I started using the CaptiveWorks CW-800S USB PVR Free to Air Receiver some months back and I have hooked to it since then. Its features are incredible. You can record and play your favorite shows with the help of an external HDD. Currently I have access to about satellites, more than 6000 channels and about 5000 transponders. The CaptiveWorks CW-800S USB PVR Free to Air Receiver being multi lingual is an added feature. It has more languages than most other products of its category. It has English, French, Spanish, Turkish, Arabic, Persian, German, Russian and more. It has a USB 2.0 PVR which is good enough. The technology it uses is MPEG 2 and that is also good enough.

The installation is pretty easy. It just took me about half an hour to get the installation done. I had to just read through the installation menu which was user friendly. It is completely digital and also full DVB S compliant. It will take you a while to figure out its various features, just read through the easy to understand manual. The access to about 6000 channels is what I find to be amazing and I have made the best use of this facility. If you wish to lock certain channels and prevent your children from viewing them, then the device also has a parent lock function. The network search is fast and it also has easy tuning which I think is an added advantage.

What’s more, I was also provided with a universal remote with the CaptiveWorks CW-800S USB PVR Free to Air Receiver. I can also play MP3 and view JPEG pictures. Its features are mind boggling and cater to everyone’s needs. Switching between channels is also quick and I find this feature to be better than my previous receiver. The graphic interface is also good, it has a 256 color graphic user interface which is the best in its category. Having used other receivers, I find that this receiver is way superior because it has more features. It is good value for money and I would recommend it to those who are planning to buy a free to air receiver.
